The audio should do a particular job
You have twenty quiet minutes and want to hear an original scene. If you want to listen without deciding the next response, narration fits. If you want to ask the fictional character a question and continue the exchange, you need conversational audio.
DreamPress’s developer-supplied iPhone listing describes generating stories, rewriting them, character chat and converting creations into AI audiobooks. Its official story landing page also advertises narration with character-appropriate voices. Those are first-party descriptions, not our listening test.
Anione’s home FAQ explicitly describes real-time character voice calls. Its pricing measures that activity in voice minutes separately from images. A narrated passage and a live call therefore answer different audio needs, even if each uses an AI voice.
Choose the pause that should be possible
For a narrated scene, the useful pause is an editorial one: stop at a confusing sentence, revise the passage, then decide whether to make another narrated version. For a call, the pause belongs to participation: your next question should change the ongoing exchange.
Consider two adult composers discussing a concert. A narrated story can contain both sides of their final conversation. A character call leaves one side to you. If you want a finished exchange to hear, buying more call minutes may be the wrong resource; if you want to improvise a new answer, a prewritten narration may be the wrong format.
The cited DreamPress sources do not establish an audio-minute allowance or matching real-time call mechanics. They also do not justify calling every audio capability identical across the web and iPhone app.
Phone access changes the preparation
Apple lists DreamPress as an iPhone app from DREAMPRESS LTD with in-app purchases. That does not establish that a web subscription and app purchase share every entitlement.
Anione says there is no App Store or Google Play download; it provides an Add to Home Screen PWA through Safari or Chrome and says the same account carries characters and memory. Follow that route rather than hunting for a similarly named store app.
For regular Anione calls, budget actual conversational minutes. Its public Silver and Gold plans list 100 and 400 voice minutes respectively, with a three-month minimum on both. A one-evening evaluation should not mistake the displayed monthly rate for a one-month commitment.
Choose the audio experience before the billing unit: a story you hear, or an exchange you help create. No voice-quality, latency or listening-duration benchmark is claimed here.
